About this training course

Course duration: 4 hours (this includes breaktime refreshments but please bring your own lunch)

An experienced trainer delivers this essential introduction course for anyone who works with clients with epilepsy. You will learn what Epilepsy is, and the causes. How seizures should be managed including when to call an ambulance. On this course you will also learn, and practice, medication administration including buccal midazolam.

It is important for anyone working with clients with epilepsy to be confident and skilled in the management of seizures and how to use rescue medication.

On completion of the course you will receive a certificate of attendance that will be valid for two years; after which we recommend you attend the epilepsy refresher course.

  • What is epilepsy?
  • What are the causes?
  • How should seizures be managed?
  • Practical treatment – including practice of administering medication using anatomical models
  • Risk and safety issues
  • When to call an ambulance
  • Buccal Midazolam
